Ground Broken on the Bothel Transit Station

Ground broken on transit station

Sound Transit broke ground Tuesday on a new transit freeway station at I-405's Bothell-Everett Highway interchange.

The new Canyon Park Freeway Station in Bothell will improve transitspeed and reliability in the I-405 corridor and cut an estimated fiveminutes off average commute times, officials said. It is expected to becompleted in summer 2007.

In addition to a new station, a pedestrian bridge will beconstructed and the southbound onramp to I-405 from Highway 527 will beupgraded. The system will allow buses to operate with less interactionwith general traffic, said Sound Transit spokesperson Geoff Patrick.

The new station will be served by the following Sound Transitroutes: Route 530, Bellevue to Everett (via Bothell); Route 532,Bellevue to Everett (via Canyon Park); Route 535, Lynnwood to Bellevue;and Community Transit Route 441, Edmonds Park and Ride to Overlake(Redmond).
