Quick Recap Of My Ruckus/Social Parties at Gay Pride

Pride was amazing!
I was extremely nervous about throwing 4 parties but Shanon Thorson and I did it and not only did we succeed it was an over the top success that I wasn't prepared for. Over 3000 people made there way over 4 days into the Ruckus Parties at Grim's. So much fun and super excited for going bigger and better next year.

Music Mondays: Thrice & Passion Pit Remixed

Thrice - Broken Lungs (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Never thought I would hear Thrice in Dubstep, but I love it

Passion Pit - SleepyHead (TGIK Remix)

I know this song is really old and been remixed to hell and back again but I thought this was an interesting take on Sleephead.

This Last Week Via Instagram, Morrissey, Bartender Auctions and Familia

Attended a pretty amazing Morrissey night at Pony for Morrissey's bday.  Heard all my favorites and had my fair share of drinks.
Unicorn Bar In Seattle
Drunk friends after the Bartender Auction at Purr for Rise n Shine
More from the same night :)
Finally my brother and his girlfriend came to visit.  I have never gone out drinking with a sibling and it was a ton of fun.  We hit up all the bars and ended the night dancing at neighbors!

First Look At Torchwood's "Miracle Day"

So the new Starz Torchwood series looks amazing. Some of my observations:

  • Its not very British, even Jack seems more American
  • Big budget, quality looks amazing
  • From the trailer it looks like they will be down playing Torchwood's history

Regardless, it looks amazing and I can't wait to see it!

5 Tips For Getting Ready For Seattle Gay Pride

1. Take Friday Off! Let's be serious, your going to be out hella late on Thursday kicking off your Pride Weekend and Friday events start early so why not think ahead and take it off. Call in sick, use vacation, whatever... just make sure you have it off.

2. If you don't live in Seattle get your housing in order. No Drinking & Driving. So if your live in Federal Way or even in Northgate. If you can't walk home thinking about staying at a friends house or book a hotel. Look into Hotel Max, Silver Cloud Inn or Homesuites (on pike and boren)

3. Stock up on Vitamin B. Vitamin B is one of the easiest ways to avoid a massive hangover. I usually just stick to drinking a 5 hour energy in the morning right when I wake up then proceed to drink tons and tons of water and it usually does the trick

4. Look your best! You're going to need a haircut, tan and probably some waxing. Its a busy time of year so make sure you book those appointments today.

5. Last but not least, have your weekend planned and make sure you RSVP to all the parties. Especially Thursdays Ruckus Pride Event, it will be crazy and a great way to kick off Pride. RSVP here at Seattle Ruckus Pride Party Kick Off

What Not To Do When Applying For A Job

There is a great blog post over on the Banyan Branch blog on how to use Social Media to help you get your job. Check it out at http://www.banyanbranch.com/social-blog/social-media-for-your-job-search-arsenal

What I want to add to that blog post is a tip on what not to do when applying and that's follow up with the right people and don't get to pushy!

I get so many emails and tweets asking if they got the job, when the right person to ask would be head of HR or possibly a friend or contact that they might have in the company.  I personally am so far removed from hiring, I don't even get to see any resumes.  So my tip is to make sure you follow up with the right person.  Also know what is acceptable when following up.  Most likely tweeting at every employee that you know at the company is not a good idea.

Remember to stay positive

Look for opportunities to meet future employers at parties and networking events but also know how to keep the conversation casual.  Sometimes I get cornered at a party and leading to an awkward conversation.  Instead of asking to be hired on the spot focus on having a great conversation.  Leave a good impression.

Last but not least, if you don't get hired at what ever company you apply for, remember to stay positive and don't hold any grudges.  There have been a few situations where I have personally witnessed someone lash out via Twitter or Facebook towards a company where they did not get hired.  No matter where you live always remember its a small town...even in NYC.  People move around, lets say you apply at a start up and the hiring manager denies you.  You get angry and 5 years later when your applying at Amazon you could be surprised to find that the same guy who denied you before is the new recruiter at Amazon or worst yet your new boss.  So always stay positive and in the end things will work out!

So what I've learned is that in one month my life consists of mostly drinking, sleeping, working & eating.  I was also shocked that Sunday happens to be my biggest night out.

Had a great start to the weekend with the Golazo party.  Golazo has an amazing HQ, its an old BMW dealership and serves as both their office and warehouse.  Party included a soccer tournament, food, djs, xbox gaming and best of all open bar with Golazo Energy as the mixer.  Here are some pics from the party.

This was my favorite movie at this last year's Sundance Film Festival.  It's an amazing movie along the lines of Children of Men.  Should be out this summer.

Lady Gaga Debuts "The Edge Of Glory"

What does everyone think of the new single.  I like it but it also sounds old.  Sounds like the old gay divas, more like a cross between Celine Dion and Cher.  Something you might hear at the White Party or better yet a Gay Cruise.  Like I said its really good and I'm sure I'll like the remix even better but it does have that 90's gay feel to it.  What do you think?
