Seattle Ranked In The Top 10 Cities For Female Entrepreneurs, Good Jobs, Bio Hubs, LGBT & Tech In America

Just some of the recent reasons why I think Seattle is one of the greatest cities in America

Seattle Ranks 2nd for Female Entrepreneurs (link)

Seattle is one of the most highly educated cities and has a correspondingly high median income and low unemployment rate.  With 12.5 businesses per 100 residents, the city is highly entrepreneurial, and women own around 4 of those businesses...Seattle is also home to one of the world’s most famous and civic-minded businesswomen, Melinda Gates.

Seattle Ranks 5th For Good Jobs (forbes)
The fastest-growing city for good jobs outside of Texas was another tech capital, Seattle, which is expected to add 136,000 jobs over the next five years.

Seattle Ranks 10th For Bio Hubs (link)
Seattle has one of the fastest growing life sciences markets in the nation and has become one of the core cancer research markets in the nation. Puget Sound’s life sciences is comprised of nearly 1,000 firms employing more than 22,000 directly in the industry, with an additional 191,000 people employed in the hospitals and the medical field....
Seattle has a dynamic mix of life sciences companies both private and public who serve a vast array of activities from cancer research to drug research. The University of Washington Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle Genetics, Amgen and Bristol-Myers Squibb all are staples of excellence in the market and have seen significant growth over the last decade. A major contributor to Seattle’s life sciences growth can be attributed to industry leading research coupled with generous funding by some of the world’s largest philanthropic organizations, like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Seattle Ranks America's Techiest City (king5)

Seattle Ranks 3rd For Smartest Cities In North America (Fast Company)
Seattle. Seattle impressively scored in the top three in four of the six components of the Smart Cities Wheel. Seattle achieved top billing in smart governance, grabbing a No. 1 position in the e-governance ranking from the E-Governance Institute. Seattle has been a North American pioneer developing its first e-government strategy in 2004, and more recently using both RFIDs to track waste and Twitter to communicate about stolen vehicles.
Seattle has always done well on green rankings and showed leadership early by helping to establish the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. The city also performed well on the Smart Economy component. In fact, Seattle had the highest economic performance rank of U.S. cities in this ranking (in the Brookings Institute study). Brookings measures economic performance as a function of GDP, employment, population, and income.
