This year, January 20 promises to be a day that all of us will remember forever. On that historic day, Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th United States President.

Come join us at the South Lake Union Discovery Center to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event at our Presidential Inauguration Day Viewing Party. We’re hanging a massive screen in the Discovery Center to broadcast the inauguration live, and will have some breakfast refreshments for guests to enjoy.

We’ll open the doors from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (inauguration is set to start at 9:00 a.m.), so feel free to come by at any point during that time. It will be a great opportunity to share in the excitement with friends and enjoy the company of some new acquaintances.

Gay Bingo Update

Lifelong AIDS Alliance released a press release concerning the Glamazonia situation and the future of Gay Bingo. You can read about it here

In short LLAA could not come to an agreement with Thom (Glamazonia) over the LLAA harassment policy.

"Our harassment policy covers all Lifelong employees, volunteers, board members, donors, and contractors with aim to create "an atmosphere where there is respect for all human dignity." We had asked him to treat our staff and volunteers with dignity. Thom didn't feel that "GLAM" could adhere to the policy."

Which is a fair statement for an organization to look out for its employees especially if there has been complaints in the past. I guess well find out soon enough what next years gay bingo will be like:

Northgate Mall Grand Opening This Weekend

After settling in Seattle in the 80's, three Cambodian refugees were drawn to
gang life and ultimately ended up in jail. Years later, facing deportation back
to Cambodia, they find themselves caught between a tragic past and an uncertain
future by a system that doesn't offer any second chances.

Many Uch will be on hand to answer questions about the film and his experience.

A Great Wonder
Thursday Nov. 8, 6 p.m.
This film traces the extraordinary journey of three Sudanese youth, "Lost Boys"
of Sudan, who fled war and lived in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. Having
navigated the hazards of warfare, disease and starvation, their arrival and
resettlement in Seattle is a fascinating immigration story.

Cast member Moses Lual and co-producer Leigh Kimball will be on hand to discuss
the film and where the Sudanese youth are today.
